Hundreds of disgarded full and squashed yellow paintballs

Reported in the Street Cleansing category anonymously at 10:25, Sunday 1 September 2019

Sent to Bromley Council 46 minutes later

There are hundreds of brown paintballs (that resemble Maltesers in size and colour) left strewn near the start of the Ravensbourne Trail in the Commonside, Keston car park. These have appeared overnight and are a danger to young children, dogs and wildlife who may be tempted to eat them. I spent almost an hour this morning (during a dog walk) picking up approx 1,000+ discarded paintballs but wasn’t able to pick them all up! They cannot be brushed up as the squiggy soft paintballs would break causing yellow paint to cover the area. It would require an operative to pick the remainder up manually or for them to be ‘hoovered’ up possibly with a leaf blower/vacuum. The area would then need to be covered with grit and sand to prevent the paint covering shoes and paws! Your urgent attention would be much appreciated as, being a sunny Sunday, it will be a popular place to visit. I placed those I collected (using two of the discarded bags) in one of the nearby litter bins. Thank you!

  • The reported problem of many discarded paintballs remains unresolved and were still laying scattered in a corner of the Commonside, Keston car park (which is part of Hayes Common) close to wooden signage regarding the Ravensbourne Trail. It’s not a big car park and so don’t understand how the paintballs could be missed. Two cardboard boxes and the empty paintballs plastic packaging lying nearby were removed on Monday but all the paintballs were left! It’s the car park nearest to the Greyhound pub and the now closed Herbert’s restaurant. The paintballs were still all there this morning at 9am! They have now changed colour from light brown to yellow.
