  • Thank you for your e-mail regarding the street lighting outside your property at Wantage Road The street lighting would be designed to the British Standard, the design would have been carried out by either Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) on behalf of the developer or a third party consultant which OCC would need to approve. This should be carried out at the beginning stages of the legal agreement with OCC but all communications with potential purchasers would be through the developers as they would be installing and maintaining the street lights until at such time the development is adopted as highway. Therefore it is the developers responsibility and you would need to contact them direct regarding the position of this light and any alterations would need to be agreed by the developer and OCC to ensure that the road remains lit to the required levels

  • Thank you for your update. We live in an old part next to new development (not the new development). The street light is at the edge of the new development. Therefore I have no communication with the developer.

  • This message applies to Slade Road & Brasenose Road Didcot. The Brasenose estate has become a rat run, mostly in the morning and evening, as Wantage Road has become so clogged with traffic at those times. I have seen some cars probably going about 50mph through the estate, many others obviously exceeding 30mph. It’s my belief, and that of others I’ve spoken with, that the estate needs traffic calming measures before a child gets injured or worse (Freeman road school so lots of children on foot in the morning). It’s become a real problem.
