Pedestrians held at Red unnecessarily

Reported in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 11:03, Wednesday 14 August 2019

Sent to TfL 3 minutes later

When crossing the southbound Grove road on the north side of the junction with Mile End Road, the pedestrian signal turns red at least 45 seconds earlier than it needs to. It has been programmed to turn red at the same time as Eastbound traffic on Mile End Road is given the green light even though that traffic is irrelevant to this part of the junction. This error results in a very short pedestrian green signal. This disproportionately effects vulnerable pedestrians who are slower and also less confident to cross on red. It also teaches confident pedestrians to ignore traffic signals and make their own minds up, which is an inherently dangerous lesson to learn.
