Bridge closed for contractors to park plant vehicles

Reported in the Road and Pavement Issues category anonymously at 08:18, Wednesday 14 August 2019

Sent to Bromley Council 1 minute later

Westgate Road is currently closed to traffic for gas mains repairs. This is very inconvenient particularly for cyclists. However it appears that rather than doing any repair work the contractors are simply using the bridge to park their plant vehicles

  • Thank you for your enquiry.

The road will remain closed until the end of August and SGN are making good progress with their gas replacement project.

There is a signed diversion in place for motorists and cyclists. The footway is open for pedestrians at all times and cyclists also have the option to dismount and use the footway during this time too.

The road closure is in place for the safety of the operatives on site and due to the narrowness of the bridge, there is not enough room for queuing traffic and traffic to pass safely at the same time while the temporary traffic lights are in place.
