Broken, rotten park-bench in Brooches Wood

Reported anonymously at 09:18, Wednesday 7 August 2019

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council and North Hertfordshire District Council 1 minute later

The wooden bench just inside the entrance to Brooches Wood off the first cul-de-sac in Cleveland way has finally fallen foul of the damp. The buried support leg is totally rotten and where it has come away from the rear support, the screw has been affixed to crumbling timber. Probably just someone sitting on it, but can't rule of vandalism. Either way, it was on it's last legs. Might be wise to replace with one made from recycled plastics, as Great Ashby Community Council use in the District park.

Updates

  • I have been told it will be removed, it's still there? I asked if it would be replaced, I have been assured it will be replaced in the same way as all benches are replaced. Not holding my breath here.

  • I was told this would at least be removed and later replaced. As of yesterday, the broken bench is still where it was - disappointing to say the least.
