Cycle racks taken up with permanently parked cycles covered with tarpaulins

Reported in the Benches / bicycle racks category anonymously at 20:15, Tue 6 August 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Oxford City Council 4 minutes later

When I attempted to park my bike in the racks at the entrance to Brasnose Lane, from Turl ST there were a number of bikes parked in a mass and locked together and covered with tarpaulins. They have been there for a few months I believe. The same thing was also going on in Broad St before. Bikes should not be parked permanently like this.

  • These are the same bikes as used to be in the rack on Broad Street, and i have been aware of them for some time, however they do not meet the Councils criteria to be tagged for removal as 'Abandoned', and i have no authority from Oxford City Council to remove bikes on the grounds of being 'Stored' I have forwarded this to the Council to make them aware of your concerns.
