Litter caused by unnecessary verge mowing

Reported in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category anonymously at 10:37, Wed 31 July 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to South Oxfordshire District Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1714344.

I am extremely disappointed to see that OCC has mown the verges of the A4074 along the Dorchester bypass and Sandford dual carriageway A4074 before litter picking (both sides of road and central reservation). The result is that what might have been 1,000 pieces of litter is now 20,000 pieces which will be much more difficult to collect, and much more likely to be spread by wind and other means. This litter will now not be collected effectively. As the roads were closed with cones for the cutting i cannot believe that a phone could not have been have been made to the pickers before mowing commenced, especially as the works were not urgent. If there are no litter pickers employed then i am sure that volunteers could be engaged- Wallingford has a group that does that- 1155 Wallingford for instance. Many people would rather litterpick than see the disaster that has been left by this insensitive and mostly unnecessary mowing that was not needed to provide vision splays for instance.
