Reported in the Road and Pavement Issues category anonymously at 20:18, Mon 15 July 2019
Sent to Bromley Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1697379.
Trying to exit Oaklands Lane to enter junction of Saltbox Hill is dangerous as there is a blind spot caused by overgrown vegetation. Vegetation needs cutting down before there is a bad accident.

Wednesday 24th July. Accident at this junction, caused by not being able to see clearly. If you have reported this to "your contractor" as you say you did then "your contractor" should feel wholly responsible for not actioning your request sooner :-(

Still difficult vision for seeing traffic coming from the left as trying to come out of junction.

Thank you for your report. I have inspected the area again this morning and found no obstruction caused by overhanging vegetation to the public highway. I have passed this report to our traffic department to look at the speed of road users.

If you are in a car and look to your left you do not see cars coming until the very last minute its not to do with over hanging just head is too high to see past and people coming down from Jewells hill can't see the junction or can those coming out the junction see cars coming from Jewells hill.
To be honest its better off having a speed bump there.

Thank you for your comments, however, I can only enforce when something is obstructing the highway its self as in overhanging. I will await for the traffic department to continue their investigation.

The blind spot itself has still been despite the sides being cut either side of the junction - see photo attached which shows the bus that sticks out and you can't see who is coming around the bend.

Last time I complained your safety officer (ex police) said it was “because drivers were going too fast down both hills.”That may well be true but it’s still the council’s responsibility to ensue there isn’t a fatality, blind spot or not.

We are sorry to hear of your concerns regarding the circumstances you describe in Saltbox Hill and the effects of motorists travelling at inconsiderate speeds. We understand your concern regarding speeding vehicles and it is difficult to understand the attitude of drivers who put the safety of other road users at risk by driving in a dangerous and inconsiderate manner. Regarding enforcement of traffic speeding, we must advise that speeding or dangerous driving is an offence punishable by law and enforced by the Police. We would therefore recommend you contact your local neighbourhood Police team to request enforcement. The collision record at this location does not reflect any pattern of speed related collisions in the area and therefore cannot be prioritised for further engineering measures at present. Ideally, we would of course prefer to investigate all locations where there is a perceived or real danger but as we are sure you will appreciate this is not possible.
