Outside 34 and 42 Aylesbury Road Thame OX9 3AW
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 18:08, Sat 13 July 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1695216.
Drain covers replaced on 11th July with new higher drain covers which are not screwed down. Now the traffic on B4445 into and out of Thame (main access road for Thame) day and night give excess noise as the covers click with every vehicle which crosses over them..

Having inspected the drain covers again today, the issue is opposite no 34 only. There are two new drain covers and at least one is rattling every time a vehicle goes over it.

This continues to be a severe problem. The noise from the manhole cover is extremely loud and is disturbing my family's sleep.

One week now since Thames Water replaced the drain covers and failed to complete the work, as the cover on the left in the picture is loose. Monday 15th July I called Thames Water and they said they would investigate. Tuesday 16th July I called Thames Water and they confirmed after inspection on 15th July further work is required and is scheduled to be completed. Thames Water were unable to confirm when the work will be completed so the noise continues.

I agree with all the other comments - our families sleep is being severely affected - I can only sleep in the living room. This has been the case for a week now and despite all our contacts with Thames water and the council nothing has been done.

Within two hours? - nothing has happened and this is an open issue with no sign of resolution by Thames Water.

They have put tarmac on top of the two drain covers outside 34 Aylesbury Road. (not sure if they did anything outside 42) This has reduced the noise very slightly - the problem continues. Seeing as they caused the problem in the first place it is unbelievable that they are refusing to complete the work properly.

25/07 pm - tarmac partially laid over both drain covers and compacted with a shovel. It is the left hand drain cover only that has not been installed correctly and tarmac does not fix the issue. The drain cover moves when vehicles go over it and there is considerable noise 24 x 7. This issue is still open and now into the third week. Yesterdays work was not a solution as the drain cover should be secure and I would have thought visible for maintenance. Perhaps this is South Oxfordshire Council and / or Thames Water not taking responsibility for a permanent fix.
