Dropped kerb issues
Reported in the Car parking category anonymously at 17:03, Wed 10 July 2019
Sent to West Oxfordshire District Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1691880.
Some residents of the estate who are disabled and depend on electric wheelchairs often find the crossovers to the dropped kerbs (one of which is particularly poorly positioned) obstructed by parking. Thus in this location last week a woman had to ride her chair out in to the road and make a blind turn around the car parked across the dropped kerb: just as a 4x4 accelerated towards her. A very nasty accident was only just averted.
Solution = ?

Issues continue ... SO: advisory "white lining" of the dropped kerbs to keep them clear of parking ? (that is if the dropped kerb on the north side of The Willows can't be relocated on to the corner so as to be opposite the south side dropped kerb ... ?)

Unfortunately the risks to wheelchair users, prams, etc continues. Today's photo shows a car parked across the "nearside" dropped kerb (which was incorrectly installed as not immediately opposite the dropped kerb on the other/ far side of The Willows).

Wheelchair users (including residents, people from the Newlands Care Home, etc) are still having problems, are at risk from having to use the roadway rather than the pavements, etc. Praying none of them are hit, injured or worse

Dangers continuing at this junction - because of parking over the dropped kerbing/ obstructing visibility / occasional speeding cars / ... and nearby street light still not working (because power supply has not been repaired)

Problems continue. For example someone parked on the corner/ over the dropped kerb, so visibility at the junction was obscured: someone trying to squeeze round/ passed, nearly got wiped out. A real risk area.

This corner / section of Newland Mill continues as a nightmare: on the corner people park so that drivers can't see safely to drive in or out of The Willows, disabled in electric carts have to do this too because they can't get at the dropped kerb to move to the safety of the pavement. At the least, an advisory white line needs to be put down round that road/ corner section.

People continue not to think ! they just park across the dropped kerb ( which could benefit from being moved a few feet ... ) and/ or park on the corner (creating a further hazard / danger )

People continue to park thoughtlessly across the dropped kerb, causing dangers for local disabled who use powered etc wheeled chairs ... Just plain dangerous (AND for drivers & pedestrians at a junction with restricted visibility).

The dangers and risks continue: all for the want of someone wielding a paintbrush for a few minutes to set out not more than 10 metres of white "cautionary" lining around that section of kerb
