No 198 Hydean Way - no dropped kerb or driveway across pavement.

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 20:04, Thu 27 June 2019

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Number 198 Hydean Way doesn't have a dropped kerb or a driveway across the pavement, this is dangerous for pedestrians walking along Hydean Way as they are not expecting a car to suddenly bump up the kerb and drive towards them. This household does, however, have a brand new red MG 4 by 4, but curiously cannot afford to apply for planning permission for a drive and dropped kerb. Are they special? Thousands of other Stevenage residents have to pay for planning and for the groundwork to park their cars on hardstanding outside their homes but the residents at 198 Hydean Way must feel these laws do not apply to them as they do to other council tax payers.

  • The Council doesn't appear to think that driving over the footpath and parking your car on your front lawn without planning permission for hard standing, a driveway or a dropped kerb is a problem. Highways doesn't consider this as a priority and other departments will not deal with this issue and the complainant is passed around various council departments until they give up trying to resolve these problems.

  • Rebecca Elliott is the Chief Planning Officer who refused me permission for a drive and dropped kerb but if you do not bother to apply the planning office will not take any action against you - fear not!
