Blocked gully drains outside house number 1 and 7 of Ash Grove BR4

Reported in the Street Cleansing category anonymously at 19:19, Thu 13 June 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Bromley Council 1 minute later

Kerb-side gully drains outside house number 1 & 7 of Ash Grove are blocked with silt/debris. When heavy rain falls, water cannot drain so increased volume of water travels down the incline of the Ash Grove towards Croft Avenue. On Monday evening, when heavy rain fell, the road and pavement on Croft Avenue were under water as was my driveway. At one point, my driveway flooded with over 4 inches of water, covering my house air-brick and very nearly reaching the top of my porch step which would have meant water entering my property. Please can you clear the drains on Ash Grove to try to assist with the drainage of surface water so reducing the flooding risk to my property? Thank you. Suzanna Argenio-Haines, 25 Croft Avenue, West Wickham BR4 0QH

  • 1660059 Please can you give me an update on this incident? The drains continue to be completely blocked. The drains in question have orange spray on them. I am concerned at the density of parking in the area, that may well reduce access to the drains. Often people park over the drains so no access will be available. Can you tell me if this has been addressed? Heavy rain continues to be forecast and I'd rather not be flooded again

  • The drain outside number 7 Ash Grove has NOT been cleared. It still remains full of debris and is blocked. This drain has not been cleared. I reported that 2 drains on Ash Grove were blocked - outside number 1 &7. The drain outside number 1 has been cleared, but the drain outside number 7 has not been cleared. People often park on the road and often cover the drain, but I did report this as a consideration when I initially reported the incident. A parking suspension may need to be issued to ensure access to the drain

  • The Council has inspected again on the 30th January 2020 and has found that the drain outside No.7 has still not been cleansed despite recent reports to the contrary. Their Contract Management are aware of this failing and Flowline have been instructed to return.

  • Flowline are struggling to gain access to this remaining blocked gully due to obstruction by parked cars and during the COVID-19 lockdown residential parking has increased making the task harder to complete.

Signage will be displayed again to request the area is kept clear on a specific date but this has been ignored on several occasions.
