New island is dangerous to drivers & cyclists

Reported in the Road works problem category anonymously at 13:34, Mon 10 June 2019

Sent to Warwickshire County Council 2 minutes later

The new island that has been installed is too wide. It means that drivers are forced into the cycle lane, which is dangerous for cyclists.

Also, I appreciate the current road markings are unfinished, but in the dark, the island is not marked by road markings to warn drivers and I have seen two cars hit the new kerb because it narrows the right of the road.

The current situation is dangerous for drivers, and cyclists. The island should be narrowed so that it does not impede narrow the road as much and so that the cycle lane remains.

  • This is so incredibly dangerous. As a keen cyclist this is just scary to cycle past. Cars and especially lorries are now forced into the cycle lane. You have made the carriageway far too narrow, the new central section juts out too much. An incredibly dangerous poor design.

  • At the least it could be painted with fluorescent paint. There are loads of tyre scuff marks on the island. Very poor design.
