Council-owned gate destroyed at the mouth of alley linking Scales Rd & Mirchley Rd, Tottenham London N17

Reported by Alan Stanton at 20:00, Thu 30 May 2019

Sent to Haringey Borough Council 5 minutes later

This alley between Mitchley Road and Scales Road is owned by Haringey Council. As well as piles of dumped waste, it's usually blocked by several parked vehicles.

Several years ago both ends of the alley were gated with funding from a Home Office scheme to design-out-crime. The aim was to prevent access other than by residents. This was partly in order to prevent dumping; to prevent unauthorised parking; and most important to reduce burglary from the rear of the adjoining properties. The gate at the southern end of the alley in Scales Road N17 has been almost completely destroyed - as shown in my two photos.
