Yellow lines worn out
Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 14:50, Thu 30 May 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1644137.
Due to the fact that the double yellow lines are faded a huge amount of cars are parking in a dangerous and obstructive manner, causing a major issue to access the car park of a block of flats. Major concerns as to whether the emergency services would be able to gain safe access should the need arise. This has been assessed by the fire services who have agreed to send photographs to the council to confirm the situation. This has been an ongoing issue but in recent months has become alot worse.

I agree with what has been already said about Ashby Court but also someone is running a vehicle repair business in the street which adds to the chaos and obstruction. Also please can the white lines be replaced on the Stop junction between Gatteridge Street and Newland Road. They have faded and that junction is dangerous.

I confirm the above comments/problems: entry for emergency vehicles is the main danger. Parked cars are also blocking the rear gates to the adjacent Britannia road flats, causing turning/entry problems for bin collection lorries serving both developments. Just repainting the yellow lines without enforcing the restrictions is not going to work. The car repair business mentioned above is being run out of the back yard of #3 Gatteridge Street. I've noted the following vehicle registrations undergoing repairs in Ashby Court in April: WX03 YMV, H 7467 BP (Bulgarian plate), BP03 KPA, FJ02 XYW, DN03 CNF, VK04 VEL - there have been more since then.

There is rubbish relating to this car repair business that has been left around and within some Morrison's trolley on the path by the gates into the Britannia Road complex. Specifically, there is evidence of an oil change with a towel covered in oil on the ground, the old oil, and a bottle which would have contained the new oil. There is also what appears to be a car body part. This has all been reported to the council through their flytipping reporting service.

Carriageway repairs have been programmed after which the double yellow lines can be reinstated, hopefully deterring any car repair activity on the highway.Posted by Oxfordshire County Council at 08:07, Mon 9 December 2019

Thanks for notifying us of the planned resurfacing and re-lining. By way of update, the car repair "business" has moved on as there now appear to be new tenants in the relevant Gatteridge St property. Illegal parking remains a problem, preventing bin lorry access through the gates at the end of Ashby Court and making large vehicle movements in an out of Ashby Court itself quite difficult at times. Unless enforcement action prior to resurfacing and re-lining takes place it's hard to see how the council will get access to do the work!

This is the scene at around 1600 today in Ashby Court. Just glad no-one needed emergency access. Aside from the obvious, note the two cars beyond the RH white van blocking the turning head/gates to the Britannia Road entrance, as usual. The whole of the south side of Ashby Court was also parked up, including with an apparently abandoned dark red Renault with a flat tyre that hasn't moved in several months.

Thank you for your enquiry. I have visited the site and assessed the problem that you have identified. Unfortunately it does not meet our current intervention criteria so I cannot arrange a repair. We will continue to monitor this during our routine inspections.
