Grass verges

I am forwarding these emails to you (OCC highways) in the hopes that you might look into changing the status of Gavray Drive (Bicester OX26) from a highway to a minor road so that the grass verges could be cut using a regime that might help wild flowers to become established. The road was once going to lead to Laubton Road Industrial Estate but since the ring road has been built it now only leads into the New Langford Village Estate and is a cul-de-sac. It would save the Council some money and would be more environmentally conscious. Kind Regards

Thank you for your report.
A minor road is still highway as are the adjacent footways and to some extent the verges, even if Gavray had continued through to Launton Rd, it would still be a minor rd (i.e. unclassified).
OCC policy is that we only cut the verges once a year, however Bicester Town Council; under an agency agreement, have taken on the grass cutting and choose to cut more frequently.
It may be worth having a discussion with Bicester Town Council perhaps with regards to designating certain areas for wildflowers etc. Hope this helps, kind regards.State changed to: Investigation complete
