43 Piles of Dog Dirt in 10 minutes

On my 10 minute walk from the bank at Drum Street to my home in East Kilngate I counted no less that 43 separate piles of dog dirt. This is not a regular hobby you understand but an attempt to convey the extent of the problem which has not the least improved since the Environmental Wardens were introduced.
In fact in my 7 years of living in Gilmerton I have only ever seen the wardens once and that was when they came to see me after I complained last time some 2 or 3 years ago. I work from home and am out and about in the area a lot but never see a warden.
The southern pavement which runs between the roundabout at the end of Newtoft Street and the old Gordons pub is by far the worst affected area. This pavement has a hedge which runs along it which hides the culprits from view. I have on many occasions seen people from this area let their dogs foul this pavement, the grassy roundabout and even the grass outside their own front door at the refurbished flats.
It would be an idea to show some kind of warden presence in this area, preferably outwith school hours since kids are often sent out to walk the dog but never clean up after them.
At the very least, this pavement needs cleaned since it is a health hazard apart from being an eyesore.
