Car driving on footpath.

Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 14:55, Monday 20 May 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

The car in the photo could have waited until I had crossed the road rather than drive straight at me, head on, as I was walking along Ashdown Rd. I was approaching the junction at Holly Leys when the female driver mounted the dropped kerb forcing me as a pedestrian to move out of her way. Pavements are supposed to be for pedestrians, not for cars to drive along and then park on them like it's their right to do so. The woman didn't even bother to apologise when she saw the horrified look on my face as I was not expecting her to mount the pavement from the road!

The yellow lines are just ignored, I guess by driving/parking on the pavement they are not actually on the double yellow lines. This car is always parked there like that.

Updates

  • SBC are introducing a verge and footway ban here on 2/6. They can also issue for parking adjacent to a double yellow line - it covers the footway up to the discrete boundary of private property - they will not be able to park here for long.
