Traffic Calming useless
Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 13:04, Thu 16 May 2019
Sent to Halton Borough Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1631623.
There has been a bollard here for a few years now, which I assume is supposed to calm traffic. However, it does the total opposite and often ends with road rage. It is only a matter of time before someone is injured in an RTA due to people coming from Pitts Heath Lane towards Wharford Lane. What is the point of it? It serves no purpose and just causes traffic to come to a standstill, especially when the school is letting out. You also need to do something with the 'mini roundabout too'.

Sensors where installed earlier in the year to monitor the amount of traffic using this area. They have since been removed but nothing has changed with regards to the bollards etc. The mini roundabout is still an issue too. The roads are too narrow to drive around it safely so people end up going over the top of it. Also, some people don't realise that you're supposed to give way to traffic from the right . Giveway markings would be much better.

I raised this issue in May 2019 and provided an update in September. You installed sensors to monitor the amount of traffic then they were removed and nothing has been done. I haven't received an update either. I've recently noticed how congested this area gets between 8:20am - 8:45am with people dropping their children off at Sandymoor High School. If you haven't done so already, may I suggest someone goes down to the area to see how congested it gets. The bollard does nothing but cause traffic congestion back to Pitts Heath Lane and Wharford Lane. People coming from its Heath Lane take risks shooting through the 'junction' and like I've said before, it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured in an RTA. Please remove it and if necessary, do something with the mini roundabout at the junction with Newmoore Lane and Wharford Lane. Oh, and instead of emailing me to ask if the issue has been fixed, email me to let me know that something is being done about it.
