Several large potholes outside of Nos. 7 8 and 9 Water Farm

Reported in the Potholes category anonymously at 12:03, Fri 10 May 2019

Sent to Kent County Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1625850.

These potholes have been here for several years and I have reported them many times. I am constantly told that “they will probably be dealt with in next years budget,” Really? Nothing is ever done and yet another call from the Highways team (Demi) has not resulted in action. The whole road surface is potholed and covered in dangerous loose gravel where it is continuously breaking up. The pavement outside No 9 is deep in a slippery covering of moss so it is not possible to use the small pavement which exists. This necessitates walking on the dangerous broken and potholed road surface. Not safe for elderly residents with walking aids etc. Can this small road please be sorted out before it gets any worse?

Updates

  • As usual, automated response from KCC followed by absolutely NO ACTION. Not even the usual telephone call advising me that Water Farm is on a “to do” in next years budget! I have reported the same potholes and broken surface year on year with only one small parch put down years ago. Since then - absolutely nothing! The road is in a dangerous state, surface a mass of loose gravel and now that our 2 street lights are no longer working it is doubly dangerous but still NO ACTION! What do the residents have to do to get these serious issues fixed? We feel helpless, always fobbed off with the “next year” promise! When are KCC intending to take action to make this small road safe for residents?

  • Still NO ACTION. Why are we not surprised. The residents have now asked for the road to be resurfaced as it it so bad overall. Perhaps if KCC Highways don’t think that the potholes meet the criteria they will agree that the whole road is in a dangerous and unacceptable condition and needs doing!!! Residents have agreed to continue with this campaign of reporting the state of the road until there is some action. Hope THIS CENTURY IF NOT THIS DECADE. Unbelievable.

  • No action at all since automated email reply to original report! Nothing promised, nothing done! Our street lights have been faulty since May and despite my reporting the dangerous condition of the road surface in the very dark road, still no action, waiting for an accident to happen, have to walk in the potholed and crumbling road because there is no footpath. What does it take to get things fixed? Withholding of council tax, Shame the highways by getting press and tv support? Somebody tell the residents of Water Farm how to get action on the appalling road. . Been reported year on year and getting worse but still nothing! Help!

  • Nothing done, potholes worse than ever and broken surface a real safety issue for elderly or less mobile residents. Not a word from Kent Highways although a lorry turned up, with 3 operatives, last week to fill 2 of the many potholes ringed with white paint, in Duck Street! How will we ever get this issue resolved? It’s been reported year after year and continues to be ignored! What will it take to get something done? Residents despair.

  • No action at all since last update. Except of course the road has continued to deteriorate. We have requested that it be resurfaced as not only are there multiple potholes, there entire surface has broken down and consists of previous patches and a mass of gravel. Dangerous to cyclists and pedestrians. What condition does it have to get to before Highways take action to reinstate Water Farm as a road rather than an obstacle course?

  • No action at all, much as expected. State of road continues to worsen. What will it be like after the winter? I dread to think. We will all report it yet again but sadly do not hold out any hope of action or even interest from Kent Highways!! What will it take for them to recognise their responsibilities to residents of Water Farm?

  • All I can say, after years of reporting the state of this small road, is that I absolutely despair of ever getting any kind of action from Kent Highways! They are a law unto themselves, filling potholes which immediately fail and ignoring a request for this awful and dangerous little road to be resurfaced. What will make them take action? I give up,

  • As ever, NOTHING DONE AND NO CONTACT FROM HIgHWAYS. Why are we not surprised? All residents will begin a campaign of more frequently reporting the state of this small road, in the New Year. Never know, someone might actually DO SOMETHING TO RESTORE THE SURFACE.

  • Basically it’s “why do I bother “ Highways are obviously never going to do anything to improve Water Farm. It’s a disgrace!

  • Road as treacherous as ever, actually more so as it continues to disintegrate. Still no action . I have also reported the pavement as it is so thick in slippery moss as to be too dangerous to use forcing pedestrians to walk on the potholed and broken road surface.

  • Totally ignoring the situation. Road is disintegrating over its whole surface, including previous poorly done patches. Pavement far too dangerous to use because it is deep in slimy slippery moss. What are residents supposed to do?
