Decades old willow tree chopped down

Reported in the Trees category anonymously at 13:21, Tue 7 May 2019

Sent to Coventry City Council 5 minutes later

The wonderful willow tree on the grass opposite the car park next to the Police Station along Francis Street has been chopped down. Will this be replaced with another tree? What was wrong with it? The Council NO2 plans are supposed to address the poor quality in the city, focusing on vulnerable low income/BAME communities like Foleshill - are you trying to create a problem by chopping down trees? They do a really nice job of providing us with oxygen and are very beneficial to mental health wellbeing, please stop doing this to our city's trees. Would make sense to plant more trees not chop down ones which have taken tens, if not hundreds of years to establish.

  • No reply from the Council on this particular issue. I imagine the trunk root will stay there for time immemorial. We will not get a replacement...Coventry City Council has an agenda for poor quality in these low income high poverty areas - we are at the bottom of any scale in that sense.
