Poor signage location regarding magdalen bridge closure

Reported in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 08:26, Friday 26 April 2019

Sent to Oxford City Council 4 minutes later

Not helpful to have the sign AFTER the turn to the Marston Ferry road on the Banbury Road, with no indication of alternate route. Turned out that the bridge was not closed at 07.00: I could easily have travelled that way. Many people are snarled up in this nightmare. The damaged tarmac on the bridge is a demolition derby but its repair needs to be managed correctly. This is Oxford.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report, please see map with a pin point with the signage on, the signage we put out had information and alternative routes on them. The closure was in place from 19.00 to 06.25 then removed. Unfortunately there may have be a short delay in removing the signage due to the long diversion route needed to facilitate the night time closure and the time taken to get round to remove them all, we can assure you it was managed in a correct manor and can only apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you
