The gates to the playground do not swing closed behind people entering/leaving. As a result they're often left open and dogs run in. This is dangerous (given the recent incident of a little boy being killed by a dog in Cornwall) and results in dogs fouling the sandpit. Please could the gates be fitted with hinges which mean they close shut automatically?

The gates to the playground do not swing shut automatically. As a result, they're often left open when people enter/leave the playground and on numerous occasions dogs have entered the playground. This isn't such an issue if they're dogs which are ok around children, but there are no guarantees that a dangerous dog wouldn't enter which would out the children at risk, particularly when they're all playing on the ground. The park is very popular with dog walkers and dogs entering the playground is a real risk to the children. Aside from that safety factor, the sand pit and grass areas are also at risk from dogs fouling them, which is also obviously very dangerous to children.
