Water ingress into basement of 5 George Street, Oxford (Ask) caused by subsidence of water/gas supply surface boxes

The part of the road outside Ask Italian, 5 George St, is subsiding around the water and gas supply surface boxes. This may be linked to the water ingress and damp issues within our basement as the surface water will possibly be tracking down the cracks and finding its way into our demise around the pavement lights. While onsite we noted several buses stopping right on top of the area pictured possibly putting great pressure on the joints around the pipework which could be weeping.

  • Thank you for your report I can advise the owner of the property is responsible for the cellar under the street, you will need to contact the utility company directly if their equipment is causing damage to your property. An inspector has been out and could not find any issue with the highway.
