Parking on Pavement and Ramp near 19 Kempthorne Lane
Reported in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 12:53, Fri 5 April 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 2 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1595051.
Parking in Kempthorne Lane is a nightmare Monday to Friday. Recently, people have begun again parking right on corners and obscuring the pedestrian ramp from pavement to road. The photo taken at 12.08 this morning shows a vehicle parked across the corner, on the pavement and obscuring the pedestrian ramp. How may we expedite a parking scheme for Kempthorne Lane?

The council corporate strategy includes the statement that the council puts residents first in everything they do. This is a very good aim.
I live within the grounds of St Martin’s Hospital and have been here for about two and a half years. In this time the parking by non residents within the estate here has increased drastically. We now find cars parked on the pavements, cars parked directly on bends in the roads obstructing access for pedestrians and cars parked directly outside of our homes. This occurs by people who work in the hospital, visitors to the hospital, people who work in the vetinary hospital, others who work elsewhere, probably within the city.
During this time the council has allowed several new hotels to be built within the city. These hotels need staff from managers, chefs, chambermaids and cleaners who all have to get to their place of employment, often by car which they need to park for the day.
Even at this stage resident’s parking schemes are still being introduced closer to the city which inevitably pushes those looking for somewhere to park, further out to the suberbs, and inevitably into Kempthorne Lane. I would hope that the council at least has a strategy for dealing with the consequential problems which will occur as a result of the scheme about to be introduced in the Bear Flat area.
Will you please confirm that some consideration will be given to ensuring that the parking problems we presently experience and additional ones as a consequence of the residents parking on the Bear Flat will be dealt within the very near future. The present situation here is really unsatisfactory for the residents of Kempthorne Lane.
