Cutting grass verges

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 07:21, Thursday 4 April 2019

Sent to East Sussex County Council 4 minutes later

Why are the contractors who cut the grass verges not told to pick up all the litter (mainly plastic & glass bottles) BEFORE they start cutting? Instead they either chop up the plastic, including bags etc, or fling it into the roadway. I have complained about this before, but obviously no one bothers to reply, or to correct the grass cutting process.

Updates

  • Contractors are still cutting the grass verges without picking up the litter first. This results in one plastic bag/bottle becoming a hundreds of pieces which are then washed down the drain into the sea where it is then filmed for Blue Planet choking an innocent turtle or albatross chick. Well done.
