Littering in the street

Reported via iOS in the Rubbish (refuse and recycling) category by Matt Ludlow at 17:28, Wednesday 20 March 2019

Sent to Waltham Forest Borough Council 2 minutes later

This is a recurring problem. It’s difficult to tell who is littering here but it could be the employees of the bus garage. You can see from the photo that people have even been urinating on the wall.

Updates

  • This is a persistent problem. Simply clearing up every time there is an extensive amount of litter on the corner isn’t solving the root cause of the issue. Plus it’s costing the council and council tax payer money each and every time the litter is collected; not a sustainable use of tax payers’ money or council resources. There is a local college at the top of the road, a bus garage on the same road and parking bays lining the road that are all possible causes of this problem. Perhaps notifying the college so they can remind students not to drop litter, doing the same to the bus garage so they can remind workers and setting up a camera to monitor the street - in order to collect the license numbers of cars of littering drivers parked in the bays - could go a long way towards tackling the issue at its root.

  • This problem continues. Refuse collectors return perhaps every other day to clear the rubbish. However, people continue to dump litter and other forms of waste in and around the area, such as mattresses. People do not respect the area they live in.
