Blocked drain/s

Reported by Ralph Rogerson ( Retired Engineer ) at 16:24, Sunday 17 March 2019

Sent to Cumbria County Council and South Lakeland District Council 1 minute later

Surface water drain is completely blocked ( I think the adjacent one is likewise) with the result that during heavy rain a torrent of surface water flows down Long Meadow lane into Oxenholme Lane and down into the village below.

Updates

  • I would describe it as " half fixed " It depends what happens when we next get heavy rain.

  • The adjacent grid (referred to in my original report) has not been touched. Adjacent meaning next one along, on the same side of the road.

  • Workmen arrived and cleared the adjacent grid BUT I SUSPECT DEBRIS FROM THE GRID HAS PARTIALLY BLOCKED THE DRAIN LEADING FROM THE GRID. I say this because I inspected the grid during a rain storm and water in the gutter was simply flowing right over the grid and along to the next one which I again suspect is suffering from the same problem.
