Almost constant roadworks with no warnings

There are often roadworks here, of various severity, with very little or usually no visible warning signs. Frequently these roadworks cause significant delays but are not necessary e.g. cones could easily have been moved onto the verge or pavement over the weekend or overnight when no works are being done. Without any warning signs, there is no indication of how long the works will last for and so when the route should be avoided. There is now a 4 way stop on the roundabout with no apparent warning signs and no reason given.
