Loose manhole in main road A1075

Reported in the Roads/highways category by Bill Fawcett at 17:56, Monday 11 March 2019

Sent to Norfolk County Council 3 minutes later

Outside my house, Keystone House, in Chapel Street, A1075 main road through Shipdham, there is a loose metal manhole cover. Every vehicle that passes over this manhole creates a double loud clanking sound. During the day it is not so noticeable, but,at night it is annoying. Also, it awakens my family during the night as the traffic through the village is non stop being a main A Road thoroughfare. Please can you correct this problem completely. This is the second time of asking and still no result. I have asked Norfolk County Councilbut their reply is that this is a Highways problem and not theirs. Please help quickly. Thank you.

  • As usual, nobody does anything, all thefunds that our motorists contribute to this ‘Road Fund Licence’ and we have to resort to complaining repeatedly to try and get somebody to take notice and do something. Really annoying!!!!!! 😟😣😤😡

  • Another month goes by with this really annoying continuous noise still disrupting our daily lives. Don’t know what more to do to get somebody to fix it. Traffic averages about 1000 vehicles per hour during the day and every one of them creates this clanking sound. Really bad! NCC Highways, NCC and Breckland DC no reply at all. Where next? My MP maybe George Freeman can help.
