Up to 15 consecutive streetlights not working - some for 1 year, others for 18 months+ Growing issue of streetlights not working at this location: There were half a dozen streetlights not working after the accident at the roundabout on 1/1/18 (aftermath pictured below); t for over a year (which it is understood today have a long-term power issue). One or two lights were re-activated a few months ago, but several that were damaged or smashed into removed after the crash on 1/1/18 have not been replaced. Moreover the original 9 (nine) consecutive lights that were not working for the last 14 months have not been repaired and I understand that Sutton Council have given up on doing anything about it as they cannot understand the wiring of them.
There is also a sophisticated CCTV system with WiFi capabilities that, I understand, does not work in conjunction with the failure of the streetlights.
Why this is all the more important is because there is a diversion of all southbound traffic at this roundabout due to Tramlink works shutting off the Ampere Way southbound with a complicated diversion - in the dark - along Beddington Farm Road.
One of the very few lights still working is that illuminating a directional sign for traffic to go southbound on Ampere Way - which is the one thing that it cannot do!

Thanks Desmond - I've had this update from the Council, so I understand some works are still continuing, but I've asked to be kept updated and I will chase.
All the best,
Elliot Colburn
Dear Cllr Colburn,
Thank you for your enquiry regarding the lighting in the vicinity of the junction of Ampere Way/CoomberWay/Beddington Farm Road..
We have two known lighting issues in this area: -The lighting in the vicinity of the roundabout at the junction of Ampere Way and Coomber Way has had significant power supply problems leading to numerous lighting assets being out of action, This has now been largely resolved but we jus need to take undertake further cabling works to restore 4 lighting units in to operation. - At the the roundabout at the junction of Coomber Way and Beddington Lane a major electrical supply pillar was recently completely destroyed in a road traffic accident, leading to approximately twelve lights being out in Coomber Way. The existing position of the supply pillar is too vulnerable to further impact damage, so we need to undertake a major piece of work to alter the power supply to bring these units back in to lighting.
We are unaware of any specific issues in Beddington Farm Road but will arrange for the road to be inspected during the hours of darkness to make sure that's the case.
Kind regards
Paul Dillon Senior Professional Engineer (Lighting)

This has not been resolved - - There are 10 streetlights at the roundabout and into Ampere Way and into Coomber Way out (one street column missing since the accident on 1/1/18 and 2 lamp-housings missing since then); one directional sign unlit in Coomber Way towards the roundabout; a keep left lit-up bollard missing in Ampere Way at the roundabout (also demolished since the accident above) and all three keep-left lit-up bollards on the roundabout out - with at least one missing and the other 2 on the bushes there. there are 3 lights working in Coomber Way roundabout where they join the other problem so that there is a combination of 10 consecutive lamps missing at the roundabout area overall, with one directional sign and three illuminated keep-left bollards missing.... - there are also several lamps and a whole lampost and a junction box destroyed and removed in January 2018 (identified by Sutton engineer above). - There was a temporary repair to some lamps but only three (mentioned above) are working. - This has not been "overlooked" - this has been abandoned by Sutton Council. - My kitchen window overlooks the location 24 hours a day - and there is a lot of speeding commercial traffic in the dark - especially after midnight to Tarmac works and several bus depots, as well as distribution depots - at what is currently a road diversion due to the ongoing Tramlink works closing off Ampere Way southbound at this location This is a recipe for a disastrous accident by confused drivers meeting speeding commercial drivers - in the dark

I've received the following update from the Council.
Elliot Colburn
----------------- Dear Cllr Colburn,
Thank you for your further enquiry regarding the street lighting problems in the vicinity of Ampere Way/Coomber Way/Beddington Farm Road.
Arrangements are being made to install a replacement electricity supply pillar, and to re-route a number of supply cables, to bring the numerous lights out at the Beddington Lane end of Coomber Way back in to operation . With regard to the lighting in Beddington Farm Road - I have inspected this during the hours of darkness and can confirm that there were no defects at the time of the inspection.
Kind regards
Paul Dillon

Fix My Street update re streetlights 3.6.19: Re: " I have inspected this during the hours of darkness and can confirm that there were no defects at the time of the inspection. Kind regards Paul Dillon” - as of today 3rd June at 1.06AM, there are TEN streetlights not working; including FOUR in the Sutton Council's demise area of Ampere Way at the roundabout -of which one lampost is missing (following the 1/1/18 crash); TWO lamps missing from a double-lamped column (since the same accident; the following lamp not working. It also includes a further SIX consecutive lamps out in Beddington Farm Road for over EIGHTEEN MONTHS now (with ones other working in between) Additionally, a directional sign lamp in Beddington Farm Road at the roundabout is still not lit and have just walked the street to make this assessment. I see much of this from my kitchen. Signed: Desmond FitzGerald.
