Timing of temporary paedestrian crossing traffic lights adversely effecting traffic flow
Reported in the Current Roadworks - live information category anonymously at 18:16, Tue 5 March 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1562782.
The Temporary Paedestrian Traffic Light at the bottom of Headley way at road works are causing long tail backs down Headley Way towards Marsten including into John Radcliffe Hospital site at peak times (16:30 - 18:30). This is due to timing of traffic lights with long duration of red light. It would be worth considering changing the timing to assist traffic flow and reduce pollution from car exhausts. Typical journey time from John Radcliffe Site to Traffic Light is 45 minutes.

Last night an accident occurred at this new crossroad. I was told by locals this was the 3rd accident that had occurred at this new crossroads. This crossroads is a hazard and I urge you to make the traffic lights your priority. If they worked it would reduce the hazard significantly. A driver was hurt but is ok. It could have been so much worse if she had a passenger with her. I would hate to see other accidents occur at this junction. Please make this a priority.

I came down Headley way (11/05/2019) and was stopped by the pedestrian crossing (x2 cars back) when x3 separate cars pulled out of Copse Lane and blocked the area at my bonnet, middle and boot, so I couldn't easily move on when the lights went green. I moved on then turned left into the fuel garage. One of the drivers followed me in and parked so I had to lock my car incase of a confrontation. I am extremely fed up with the traffic situation and the anger and inconsiderate driving this has caused. I have witnessed many near misses and consider the time that all local residents and shop keepers have had to endure. Enough is enough, when are the road works/ traffic lights going to be activated. We heard that they are awaiting planning permission which is an absolute nonsense.

The access to headington Junction in cherwell drive is dangerous. Local people know its supposed to be a roundabout. Non local people see it as a junction. Shame on you the council for your incompetence. And inability to sort your mess out. You are wasting our money. The problem has always been people cannot get onto the hospital site. Resulting in blocked cherwell drive and Headley way.
