The current and ongoing work at the bottom of the common is problematic in a number of ways 1. Unsafe - kerbs and obstructions in established route regularly used by people with prams, pushchairs, wheelchairs, and cycles present trip hazards and surfaces likely to cause accidents 2. Inaccessible - the route is too narrow for some larger wheelchairs - this area is used in daytime regularly by adult with mobility difficulties some of whom walk with human assistance, others are in large wheelchairs.
Associated issues - has there been a health and safety assessment if this arrangement?
Has there been an accessibility sssessment of this arrangement?
There is no indication of the likely duration of the works.
This work falls well below the standard expected - why are there no ramps to assist access?
The route goes over mud and is eroding the nearby grassy areas, why is there no temporary doorway in place?
Is there no other layout of the protective barriers which could secure the work but retain accessibility of thus important site and much used public area?
