Unsafe trench at side of footpath
Reported via iOS in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 14:28, Tue 19 February 2019
Sent to Hertfordshire County Council 3 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1548912.
The occupier of number 137 has built a new wall adjoining the footpaths the front of their property, however, because they’ve built the new wall nearer to their house than the previous fence, there is now a ditch/trench between it and the footpath which is unprotected. When it is dark and especially when one or more vehicles (cars and or large vans) park on the footpath (which happens almost everyday), the ditch/trench is difficult to see. I can confirm from personal experience that it IS possible to not see it in these circumstances and cause a twisted ankle! Ouch!

An update has this as a soft verge, the footpath is not very soft, it is a curbed pavement at the road side in a street and has been dug up to build a wall which has left a ditch between the pavement and the new wall. The home owner consistently parks their commercial long wheelbase vans on the pavement meaning pedestrians have to squeeze past and I know from experience that in the evening when it’s dark it’s possible to not see the ditch and trip into it.
