Faulty Crossing

Reported via iOS in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 21:32, Thursday 14 February 2019

Sent to Bristol City Council 2 minutes later

The pedestrian crossing at this location is faulty. When the button is pressed by a pedestrian to request the traffic be stopped it stays depressed for a short time before reverting to its default position. This means that unless the pedestrian notices that the request has self cancelled the lights do not change and no safe crossing is provided.

In addition the crossing sensors appear to wait until the road is almost clear in both directions before stopping the traffic. This often results in pedestrian jaywalking across the road and so is unsafe. When the crossing was fitted in conjunction with the community it was initially much more responsive to pedestrian. No w it operates in the cars favour.
