House is vibrating when lorries hit point in road directly outside.

Sent to Dorset County Council 4 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 1543391.
Our home shakes when large lorries are going past. There is a dip in the road surface which we can hear the vehicles hitting. This then caused a tremor through the whole property which is enough to rattle glasses and cups on their shelves. My daughters in the front bedrooms feel the vibrations more keenly. But we can feel them in the back bedrooms as well. It is worse late at night when these vehicles are able to get more speed up on the way past. We are concerned that the long term effects on the structural integrity of our home are going to be serious and significant. The tremors were first noticed in early 2018 but have been getting noticeably and progressively worse since December 2018.

The response from highways was that since they did not have my address they could not look specifically at the issues I had reported and they assumed that the planned reduction in the speed limit locally will improve things. They could not find my property (despite it being clearly marked in my initial complaint and details forwarded) and they made NO attempt to contact me personally. The only contact being an email which I was not able to reply to. It is of note that since the long term road works on the Bournemouth Spur Road started we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of large HGV's going through Ferndown. This has led to a rapid and noticeable deterioration in the road surfaces locally and we now note that our home is shaken every time a HGV passes as there are now faults in the road sub-surface which they hit on the way past. (I suspect we are not the only home owners to report this). The proposed change of speed along Ringwood Road to 30mph will do little to help with this. If highways are serious about improving things then the 30mph zone needs to start at the point vehicles leave the A31 to join the A346 and be extended to the B3072 as well. All these routes are used by local cyclists and school children. The Longham Bridge (a long time bottle neck when used by large vehicles who are simply too big for it) needs to be closed to HGV's to improve local light vehicle traffic movement. Currently the traffic flow is static at various points through the day as traffic backs up from the Longham Bridge. The much lauded canford bottom interchange has done nothing to improve through traffic rates as the bottle necks have simply moved further up the road. It does appear that there is little systemic planning and thought going into road planning locally. This will only get worse as we are forced again and again to accept further new housing developments and developers continue to be permitted to build without adding anything to local infrastructure or public services.

STILL no response from highways. This is getting ridiculous. Every time a heavy lorry passes by the house shakes. Sometimes at night this wakes us up. Come on Highways. Wake up and sort this out.

Still no action from the Highways team. They are relying on the reduction in the speed limit along this road to sort the problem. Large lorries hitting the road at 30mph will still shake the house. The saga continues.
