Lack of lights causing near misses

Reported in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 18:46, Sunday 3 February 2019

Sent to Lancashire County Council 3 minutes later

The traffic lights at the Blackpool Road / Sir Tom Finney Way junction do not have signals on the opposite sides of the junction when crossing over Blackpool Road. The existing Sir Tom Finney Way lights are set well back from the junction and drivers waiting to turn right from either side go past the lights to wait and therefore cannot see when the lights have changed. They then move forward to turn, obstructing drivers going along Blackpool Road, with frequent near misses. The photo shows a recent example when the lights are clearly on green. Either more lights need to be fitted on the opposite sides, or a longer delay put on the Blackpool Road lights to give time for the other traffic to clear. There is another example on the Fylde Road / Aquaduct Street junction going west. Please monitor these and investigate solutions before a serious accident occurs.
