Broken manhole cover on main highway
Reported in the Manhole category by Cllr Roz Smith at 13:04, Tue 29 January 2019 using FixMyStreet Pro
Sent to Oxford City Council less than a minute later
Broken manhole cover on the very busy London Road outside the old Post Office in Headington. Every vehicle going over causes loud noise which is disturbing nearby neighbours. The London Road is the main route from our capital into Oxford City centre - every coach and bus hits this broken manhole.

Thank you for your report, an inspector has been out to this location and I can advise this matter is already with Thames Water waiting for a repair. Thames Water can be contacted on 0800 316 9800.

This manhole has still been repaired, indeed it seems to have sunken further. The noise of coaches, buses and other vehicles going over this broken manhole is causing distress and not good for the local businesses. This is one of our highways into Oxford City and due to it's location every coach hits the manhole - not a good for our tourists.

Thank you for your update. This has been reported to Thames Water, reference: CRN140219. We have also passed this issue onto the NRSWA team at Oxfordshire County Council to chase up Thames Water for this repair as they are the Highway Authority and can enforce.
