Greek Street pedestrianisation. Dear council representative, I am forced to write this to highlight the issues that are now being caused with the pedestrianisation of Greek Street and I am afraid although it may or may not be helping the businesses there. It certainly isn’t doing any favours for cars who are dropping off passengers on Park Row. If arriving from the Leeds magistrates court direction (Westgate) towards the Headrow, you enter Park Row by taking a right and can drop off near the slug and lettuce restaurant. If your lucky enough to not get beeped/flashed by a bus as you may be not giving them enough room because you can only just about drop them off near the slug and lettuce because there is a traffic island before and any more than one car dropping off causes issues with traffic flow. Can’t drop off at a bus stop for obvious reasons. Once dropped off then trying to find your way out of the place becomes and issue. Can’t go down South Parade as it’s a one way any way. Going straight on towards the Queens Hotel is not an option as it is a bus gate there certain hours of the day. Russell Street is a dead end street so can’t go down there. Greek Street is closed off and you can’t do a turn in the road very easily on such a busy road. Nor can you go back on Park Row towards the Headrow. So there is no other solution for traffic coming onto Park Row but to get to drop there customers near the slug and lettuce and then do a turn in the road and go down Bedford Street anyone who doesn’t adopt this approach will most likely get a FPN. This is an issue that needs addressing which slows down traffic flow and causes congestion and air quality issues. A rejig of the road layout is necessary to improve traffic flow and air quality, How you do it is entirely up to you. I would like to say is that due to the fact that you have closed Greek Street off. It might be time to install a traffic camera there so you can plan a future change for the road layout (Park Row) as this needs addressing as that particular area near the slug is a pinch point where traffic is being held up. I look forward to your response.

Since my last response, The council seemed to have begun a consultation to improve traffic flow in Leeds. It applies to the Headrow and surrounding areas. I guess this will take some time to get through. This luddite council seems to cause more problems than answers I am afraid.
