New pelican crossing - Accident waiting to happen.

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 14:37, Fri 18 January 2019

Sent to Hertfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

New Pelican crossing installed in 2018 - joining alley one side of road to footpath that leads to railway foot bridge. Pedestrians suddenly emerge from other side, giving drivers little time to react, could do with mirrors installing and also barriers to force cyclists to dismount. Accident waiting to happen. I am always extra vigilant, but I know the hazard is there !!

  • Fully agree that barriers need installing, I have had several people shoot out of the alley where I have had to brake sharply

  • This has now been passed to Highways Dept to resolve, site visit by Highways dept required to identify best solution to problem. Hopefully they will fit barriers, etc before someone gets run over.
