Glamis Road carriageway deterioration
Reported in the Roads/highways category by Peter Coleman at 16:16, Thursday 17 January 2019
Sent to Tower Hamlets Borough Council 3 minutes later
The Wapping bound carriageway of Glamis Road has deteriorated between the Highway and the Outdoor Centre. Old repairs have cracked, holed, and broken up; the surface is uneven, and the asphalt has crumbled in several spots revealing the cobbles underneath. The areas of deterioration are in parts of the carriageway used by cyclists, and represent a crash danger because they could cause a cyclist to lose control, especially if other road traffic is present (which it often is – Glamis Road is a notorious rat run). The danger is particularly acute at night because cyclists have to use Glamis Road to reach Wapping from Superhighway 3 at Shadwell when the Thames path through King Edward Memorial Park is closed.
