Obstruction caused by bicyles
Reported in the Pavements/footpaths category anonymously at 10:28, Wed 16 January 2019
Sent to Edinburgh City Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 1514783.
The bicycles parked outside the Black Medicine Café are causing an obstruction on an already very narrow pavement space and should be removed. They are parked there on these stands beside these over-large and far too many bins outside the coffee shop all day from early morning. You can barely squeeze past them!

The engineer has been out to see what the complaint is and he has said there is enough room for the public to pass, even in single file. This area of pavement is owned apparently by the coffee shop on the corner and nothing can be done about this, but I would like to see these bike racks moved to the other side of the street which is a lot less busy.

More obstruction than ever! with tandems or large baskets attached. Far too many bikes attached in the one place, to the one rack.

The problem is that the coffee shop owns this piece of land and therefore can't be told what to do by the Council. The situation is just getting worse and worse and the tourist crowds have not even started yet! We are already walking in single file past these bikes and all their paraphernalia.

As congested as ever on this corner - a pain in the backside! since it's not just one bike attached to the rack, but a good few, big and small.

As bad as ever and it looks like yet another bin has been added to this corner of the road causing further obstruction
It shouldn't matter whether the coffee shop owns this part of the street or not. They should not be allowed to obstruct public access and caused a nuisance, neither the owners nor their customers.

Worse than ever! The bikes should be moved to the other side of the road to the bicycle racks there. This corner is already congested with all the big bins outside this cafe!

Worse than ever and it's only going to get worse with all the tourists coming and the busy shopping streets at Christmas
