Blind Spot

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 17:49, Saturday 12 January 2019

Sent to East Sussex County Council less than a minute later

On St Helen's Road, coming out of St Helen's Crescent to turn right on to St Helen's Road there is a blind spot as the house on the corner on the right has an overgrown hedge, and it is difficult to see the traffic coming, I was wondering if it was possible to fix a mirror on the lamppost or near it on the opposite side of the road so that vehicles could see what traffic is coming! This is a blind spot, and I feel it would save an accident occurring. I do have a drawing I have compiled myself but am unable to send it via this, if you send an e-mail in reply I can forward it to you. I am sure this will help drivers immensely. I have endeavoured to send this via your internet but without success as it keeps asking me to tick a box which is not there!

  • My reason for reporting this was to save an accident happening at this junction, I feel very strongly on things that I see could be a danger to road users. I use this road quite often and am in a taxi at these occasions so I can see the problems drivers have in seeing vehicles coming from the righthand side of the road. I hope it is done, I feel it will help drivers and save an accident happening!

  • I hope that this will be taken seriously, as I feel that though there may not be an accident as yet? It seems silly to wait for an accident before something happens, and a case of "I told you so". I am sure that this will save lives, and Prevent a serious accident, it only takes ONE driver to make a mistake and then its too late! Please take this on board why I have reported this to be done, everyone that I have spoken to has said that this is a good idea.

  • No still not fixed! When I last sent a message regarding this I inadvertently put St. John's Road, which was an error, it should have been St. Helen's Road. I did send a message to this effect. So hope you will all take note of this: This is so important to me, as I feel that this will save lives, what is the point of waiting for an accident to happen before something is done? Why? do we all have to do things that are important in the reverse! I hope that this is taken seriously, I do not want to have to say, I TOLD YOU SO!

  • Not fixed yet, and I have heard from a Councillor that this problem will not be done as He has put it He has never heard of it? I have seen these mirrors on some roadways and I believe that it will help motorists, all the drivers I have spoken to have said it is a good idea! When heaven forbid that there is an accident on this spot, my answer will be "I TOLD YOU SO" and no one would listen? I need support on this? I have not done this report for my sake but for the sake of drivers at this Blind Spot!! And for the safety of people!

  • I have sent in many reports on this, everyone I have spoken to said it was a good idea, but nothing has been done as yet! I realize there are many roads that have to be fixed, but at least someone can take the time to say whether it will be done in the future or not? I cannot find any more to say on this, I seem to be wasting my time? I hope and pray I DO NOT HAVE TO SAY "I TOLD YOU SO" then it will be too late.
