Every single day throughout the day are cars parked all along the pavement and even bus stop(!) on Foleshill Road at the end of Broad Street outide each and every Barber Shop. It is impossible to walk along here comfortably as a pedestrian with bags of shopping. People with prams or shopping trolleys have no chance and it is no surprise poor folk in mobility vehicles risk their lives by riding on the road when the pavements are littered with vehicles! Why is something not being done about this? Are these businesses given favourable treatment by local councillors?? Have these barber shop owners got special permits to park here and take up the wide pavements for themselves? Could the Council please inform them pavements are for pedestrians, the road is for cars and that they should park accordingly. They are here the ENTIRE day while their businesses are open. I have seen people with cars parked on the road itself, in the lane closest to the pavement, with hazard lights on - this is a wonderful trick used by many illegally parked cars in Foleshill these days, it’s very clever. Not. I have seen people going about their business at a leisurely pace not bothered to move out the way for a bus to stop to let people on or off while they chat to other people parked on the pavement or while they load/unload their cars or even go into any of the businesses along either side of Foleshill Road. There should be traffic enforcers stationed here or walking up and down Foleshill Road or cameras making proper use of prosecuting and ticketing illegally parked car owners! They continue to get away with being obstacles for people trying to walk carefully and comfortably on the pavement, please can the Council install some posts or intermittent fences to obstruct these obviously uneducated car owners and so pedestrians can use the pavements as they were intended? Like the posts that have been placed all along the mosque on stoney stanton Road - they are great, it was becoming such a driving hazard with people carriers parked along there at various times of the day picking up/dropping off people. Now they cannot due to these posts in place. There is so much money to be made from parking tickets, if you would like a volunteer I am available! It’s astonishing why more parking enforcers are not employed when so much money could be made this way and as a result so many essential council services could be saved this way. It’s clear where the Council’s priorities lie sadly. Cuts to funding do not need to be the end of valued departments when money can be made so easily in ways like this. Please please please give this some serious consideration.
