The Highway Code states in rule 245 that “you must not park partially or wholly on the pavement in London and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it.”
Also, “unless a uniformed police officer says otherwise, you must not park on a road at night with your car facing against the direction of the traffic flow, unless you are parked in a recognised parking space or are parked on a one-way street. (Road vehicles [Construction and Use] Regulations 1986).”
