Ref: 348628 Thank you for your report; we have logged this as a fault on our management system. Our current policy is for our contractor to attend electrical & structural emergencies as a priority; these will be attended within a 24hr period. All other faults are logged on our management system, for efficiency, these are grouped by area and the date they were reported, and the contractor attends against a programmed of works based on this approach.

Still not fixed since action was 'scheduled' some 10 weeks or so ago. Since then, as you will no doubt be aware, this street light actually caught fire and had to be attended by the fire brigade. I would hazard a guess that your failure to attend promptly to the maintenance of this light may have contributed to this. The fire was rather distressing for the elderly couple outside whose house this is, quite apart from the fact that the area outside their house has been in constant darkness throughout the winter months. The lamp-post still has emergency tape wrapped around it some weeks after the fire incident.
This is unacceptable and would very much appreciate an update from you regarding a firm date as to when this long-standing issue will be fixed.

Thank you for your report, we have not been made aware this unit had a fire by either the fire brigade or other means so can only apologise this has occurred. Unfortunately I am unable to provide an exact date when this will be attended to but can adviseThank you for your report, this is an open fault on our management system, we have recently appointed a new term time contractor who is currently in the process of attending and repairing the outstanding faults left from the transition from the previous contractor. They are working on an area based approach and will attend as soon as possible.

Apologies, it never crossed my mind that you would not have been aware of a fairly major incident involving one of your assets. As I mentioned, this was attended by the fire brigade and then shortly afterwards by SSE engineers, presumably to make the installation electrically safe. So clearly there was some information sharing going on. I have attached photos of the burned-out unit and would reiterate that the residents would very much like to see this dealt with as a priority. My impression is that the electrical repairs were only intended to be temporary, and as you seem not to be aware of this incident, then I assume that the asset has not been inspected for structural safety after the fire. If there is any danger that the burned-out lamp unit could fall from the pillar then, again, I'd suggest that this should be considered a matter of some urgency for you to deal with.

Thank you for your update, we have requested our contractor attend to replace the lantern on the unit and confirm it is safe.
