Poorly reinstated pavement following numerous water repairs

Reported in the Utilities category anonymously at 19:02, Fri 9 November 2018

Sent to East Sussex County Council 3 minutes later

The pavement directly outside Violet Court has been dug up numerous times by Southern Water, to repair leaks from the water meters set underground.

Due to the road being narrow, and there being no kerb here, vehicles are always driving on this patch of pavement.

The water meters are encased in plastic, which does not stand the weight of a vehicle driving on it. They get smashed, and the water meters then leak.

The pavement has been poorly reinstated, which is a trip hazard.

To prevent this being an ongoing problem, the water meters either need encasing in something built to be driven on, or they need resiting closer to the building, away from the traffic.

  • This is getting worse, and is a trip hazard.

  • A repair has been attempted, yet not effected. It is still an uneven trip hazard. It just doesn't look quite as untidy as it did.

Vehicles drive over this area all the time, so it is prone to sinkage. The water meters ideally need moving to an area only travelled by pedestrians.

  • Still no change. I'll report it again, as the water company probably have closed this jobsheet
