New Year's Green Road - severe traffic congestion

On using New Year's Green Road today in order to by-pass Breakespeare Road South (Which is closed for road works for a substantial period), I found it very congested and almost grid-locked in parts.
I suspect that this has occurred because many car drivers are using this road, as I was doing, i.e. as a by-pass. Near gridlock was occurring when lorries attempted to transit the road. There are a number of light industrial sites located down this road and therefore lorry traffic is normally expected. However, the increase in car traffic brought about by the closure of Breakespeare Road South has created a severe traffic congestion situation when cars (In volume) and lorries attempt to use the road at the same time. As this is probably a foretaste of things to come when the HS2 development activity really takes off, the problem I have described is only likely to get worse over the next 3-5 years. May I suggest that one solution is to make New Year's Lane one -way, or to ban cars (Residents excepted) whilst the Breakespeare Road South is currently out of commission. I myself will be avoiding the area and taking another route whilst this work is ongoing.
