Bollard upgrade and signage

Reported in the Roads/highways category by Alan Peery at 12:55, Thu 18 October 2018

Sent to Windsor and Maidenhead Council 5 minutes later

According to the Marlow paper, the council is looking at putting in bigger bollards to protect the bridge. That's good, something I don't see in the article that needs consideration: Any confused lorry that's gotten that far needs to turn around, and to be able to turn around when there's traffic queued behind it. Drivers (all kinds) are used to going forward, so specific signage suggesting north-bound drivers use boating/rowing club parking lot might be helpful to address the "I'm trapped -- can't go forward, can't back up because there are cars, hell, I'm going forward" situation I think might happen.

A similar set of observations for southbound traffic as well.

Updates

  • The bollards don't work and the vehicles just continue over the bridge!
