Old caravan base (originally loaded with 60 tyres) abandoned mid Sept, reported but still there.

Sent to Cornwall Council 2 minutes later

Large, old, dilapidated caravan base loaded with +60 tyres abandoned on bridleway mid Sept. I reported it straight away, operative came next day, took photos said would be removed within 48 hours. Nothing happened. Over next 2 weeks I rang again and again, spoke to several officers, various solutions and problems mentioned but eventually tyres removed about 2 weeks ago but base still there. Spoke to Consumer Protection officer again on 11th Oct who said colleague would ring me early this week with information, it did not happen, so I rang again today (wed) but officer in meeting, told he would ring me when free but by end of day had heard nothing so rang again but officer I spoke to could find no record of any of this. Have given up ! Rang (Loveday Jenkin) my Ward Councillor to ask for her help/advice, she said she would do what she could but advised me to look at this website...done. I report fly tipping in this area quite regularly and the service has always been what has gone wrong this time?

  • Caravan base removed about 10 days ago but 3 or 4 large, old, plywood sheets and some large pieces of plastic wheel arches left behind... was advised a week ago that these items would be removed but no action yet, very frustrating.

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • This has been sorted, but without my persistence I really do wonder if it would have been. Although I kept no log of the number of phone calls I had to make to Council officers on this matter I would estimate that it was about 12 (maybe more) and this really should not have been the case although, of course, if the inconsiderate ****** had not have dumped the caravan base/tyres in the first place this would all be an irrelevance. All I can finally say is thank you to Mr.J.Bird of Public Protection (or whatever they are now called) who never lost his cool with me nagging and was I think ultimately responsible for getting the job done.
